Second Annual “Tribute to Johnny Cash” Music Festival Scheduled for June 19th, 2010 in Ventura, California

(Ventura, CA)—The Johnny Cash Music Festival is all about honoring the “Man in Black” with a celebration like no other. Although the iconic Mr. Cash passed on in 2003, and this year would have been Johnny’s 78th birthday, the impact of Johnny Cash’s music on generations is undeniable. With the release of his “last” recordings, American VI: Ain’t No Grave, on his birthday, February 26th, 2010, Johnny’s music and legacy is still influencing millions of fans, of all ages.

Thousands of those fans are expected to converge upon the Ventura County Fairgrounds to celebrate “Johnny In June” and enjoy live music from true legends of the Rock-a-Billy Music scene, as well as local, up and coming bands which will all perform in tribute to Johnny Cash and June Carter. Hot Rod cars, a “RockaBilly Babe” contest with “Cash” prizes, food, beer and wine and a few surprises are all in store for attendees.

This year’s Festival includes two stages that will feature Rock -a-Billy legend Robert Gordon performing with the Slim Jim Phantom trio; Johnny’s original drummer, W.S. Fluke Holland; Ventura’s own Cash tribute Band “Big River”, and from Hollywood, “With a Bible and a Gun”; among much more music.

Also part of the festivities is the “One Piece at a Time” Hot Rod car and bike show with celebrity judges awarding ribbons and trophies. Over one hundred vendors will sell everything from men’s and women’s clothing and shoes, to records, children’s toys and hot rod accessories.

Tickets are priced at $20 for Adults; children under 12, dressed in black, get in free; and there are discounts available for seniors, military, students and AAA members.  Admission Price includes both the music festival and the car show. Pre-sale tickets for the Johnny Cash Music Festival are available at the Ventura Visitor Bureau, 101 S. California St., Ventura, CA 93001. Tickets are also available at the gate on the day of the event. The festival is held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, located at 10 Harbor Boulevard, Ventura, CA 93001-2706 on Saturday, June 19, 2010. Show hours are from 10:00am - 6:00pm. Festival Background

Welcome to the Johnny Cash Music Festival website!

Ever since she was a child, Founder Jacque Murphy has been a fan of Johnny Cash. As she says, “Who isn’t?” Johnny’s music appeals to generations of fans and continues to gain in popularity. “I’m just a fan”, says Jacque. She teamed up with Co-Founder Ross Emery, local musician and local business owner to create an event to celebrate Johnny Cash and pay tribute to the Man in Black. The dream was to have an old fashioned, hip and modern music festival. No other man’s music could achieve all of that, except the one and only, Mr. Johnny Cash.
